After washing bedding today, I took a few minutes to organize my linen closet again. I keep all of my sheets high on the top shelf of the closet. This makes it hard for us short people in the house to reach and find all the matching bedding. Also after a few times of just throwing everything on the top shelf, the pile is messy looking and leaning to one side or the other ready to tumble out on someone’s head at any second.
The best way I have found to deal with this unorganized mess is place all of the matching sheets and pillow cases together in one of the set’s pillow case. It makes it so easy to obtain a complete, clean set of bedding without having to dig through the piles seeking matchers. It is also great when a little one gets sick in bed and a change of bedding is in order during the middle of the night. Believe me; spending a few minutes now will make you or your hubby’s life much easier during those wee hours in the morning.
My previous home was small and we didn’t have a universal place to store bedding. There just simply wasn’t a closet for linens and things. At that time, I would wash the sheets fold them as flat as possible and store the complete sets in between the mattress and box spring of the appropriate bed. If you are limited on space this method actually works quite well providing that you have one extra pair of sheets per bed.
